With the winter well and truly over and a few festivals already under our belt, we're casting our minds ahead to the summer, and more specifically, the allure of the festival experience on foreign soil. Offering sublime lineups in gorgeous locations with good weather a dead cert, it's easy to see why more and more Brits are heading abroad during festival season.

With so many to chose from (browse through our foreign festival section here), we've picked out five that we're most hyped about for 2017.

Hideout Festival 26th - 30th June

The Croatian festival is a paradise retreat of the highest order, situated in the exquisite surroundings of Zcre Beach on the Isle of Pag. Once you're there you can enjoy a full five days of partying, and with a Hideout festival 2017 lineup that's brimming with some of the world's finest acts, including Stormzy, David Rodigan, Solardo, Leon Vynehall, Wiley, Hannah Wants and lots lots more, it's an extremely tempting prospect. Exit Festival 5th-9th July

The Petrovaradin Fortress is undoubtedly one of the coolest festival venues in the world. Positioned on the banks of River Danube and close to the culturally thriving city of Novi Sad, Exit draws in huge crowds from across the continent.

The festival has a reputation for its super relaxed atmosphere and reliably excels in its rock, hip hop and dance music line ups, with The Killers, Liam Gallagher, Years & Years, Solomun, Duke Dumont on the EXIT Festival 2017 line up. Find EXIT Festival tickets

Electric Castle 12th - 13th July

With an Electric Castle 2017 lineup that includes Deadmau5, Alt-J, Moderat, House Of Pain and tonnes more, you'd think that alone would make the Romanian festival a certain win. Combine the bill with a castle location that holds thousands of revelers and provides a visually pleasing surrounding for raving into the night, and you can't help but want to grab your passport and head for Cluj. Suncebeat 19th - 25th July

The Garden in Tisno is, without doubt, one of the finest raving spots in Europe. The former holiday camp for Croatian military has the sort of golden sands and picturesque views you could only dream of, so why wouldn't you host a festival there? The Suncebeat 2017 lineup isn't too bad looking either with the likes of Kerri Chandler, David Rodigan, Dennis Ferrer, Louie Vega and more all holding court across the festival. Soiree 47 Festival Sunday 27th - Monday 28th August

Making its debut this year, we're certain that this French festival will be a smash. Set in the countryside of southwest France, you can idly relax the day away in the tranquil village of Monteton before slipping on your dancing shoes for a night of partying. A bill of world class international DJs including Andy Smith, No Fakin DJs, Ollie Teeba, and more will bring the heat to the evening's proceedings, and with acts still to join the Soiree 47 line up, this first-time festival is set to go off with a bang.
