Year after year Creamfields continues as the biggest and most renowned dance music festival in the UK, with scores of ravers descending upon Daresbury for a full frontal assault of electronic goodness.

The Creamfields line up is always a complete A-Z of dance music, and 2016 is no different. Not sure where to start with it? Our writers have plucked five essential views when the madness descends over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

Creamfields gets underway a day early this year, which means the hardcore get the chance to have their hedonistic adventures last four days - boom.

Our pick of the choices on the first night is house don DJ S.K.T, who headlines the Cream Terrace alongside the likes of Sonny Fodera and Sam Divine. The man behind our latest podcast (above), you can expect to hear a plethora of slinky house grooves which will ensure the weekend gets off to a flyer.

Marshmello

The DJ is a man of mystery and has got the EDM world talking not only about his tunes but also about his identity. Google think that Marshmello is Tiesto while online DJ publications reckon it's Dotcom. Either way, his masked performance on the Hard Presents Stage on Saturday will be chaotic and completely over the top. Watch his EDC Las Vegas set above to see for yourself.

Gimmicks aside, he has taken the scene by storm with a slew of quickfire singles and dropped his debut album, Joytime, earlier this year. Whoever Marshmello is, he clearly means business.

Jack U

The duo with the Midas touch, Diplo and Skrillex's combined project, as you'd expect, is one of the hottest properties in modern dance music. Primed for the biggest stages, their soaring, pop drenched sound takes modern trends of EDM, drum n' bass and trap and repackages it in a way that's impossible to ignore.

With a raft of well known hits including collaborations with Bieber and Kiesza, this is destined to be a surefire hit for the weekend - a chance to witness two of the most successful dance musicians of our time in full flow. Relive their closing set at Ultra last year above.

Heidi

House and techno would be a poorer place were it not for Heidi's involvement. Her raucous, fiery selections have pushed her Jackathon parties into legendary territory, whilst her Radio One residency continues to introduce newcomers to the finest sounds in modern dance music.

Previous Jackathon guests like Richie Hawtin, Soul Clap, Solomun and Maceo Plex give an insight into her own eclectic, versatile tastes, with her sets unearthing a cutting edge sound with just enough nods to the formative years of house and techno. In short she's an incredible party DJ, and one of the very best at Creamfields this year. Watch her destroy Mixmag Live above.

Seb Fontaine

If there's a stage at the festival which represents the heritage of the clubbing institution, it's the Cream Classics arena. Seb Fontaine headlines the bill which is filled with the brand's all-time favourite DJs, all of which helped soundtrack an iconic area of clubbing.

Guaranteed to seduce a crowd of true Cream lovers on the Sunday alongside the likes of K-Klass and Paul Bleasdale, Fontaine will no doubt be hammering through a selection of defining trance and house tracks, balanced out with some fresher cuts.
