Skepta, Bowie & Savages feature amongst Mercury Prize nominees

Laura Mvula, the 1975, Kano & more are also up for the award.

The Mercury Prize 2016 judges have revealed their shortlist for this year's award ceremony.

Looking to scoop the coveted album of the year gong are the likes of Skepta, Savages and David Bowie who receives a posthumous nomination. Check out our Skiddle loves the Mercury Prize 2016 playlist on Spotify below.

Also in line for the prize are the likes of Bat For Lashes for their album The Bride as are Radiohead who received a record fifth nomination for A Moon Shaped Pool.

The tally of grime albums is taken up to two with the inclusion of Kano's Made In The Manor in another huge year for the genre.

The shortlist was curated by the likes of Annie Mac, Jarvis Cocker and Naughty Boy and will be whittled down to six on the night of the ceremony. A public vote will then decide the winner.

The ceremony will be broadcast live on BBC Four and 6 Music on Thursday 15th September.
