A new film documenting Britain's late-'80s rave culture is premiering this month.
Rave Culture: A New Era premieres in London’s Rio Dalston on Friday 27th March, before heading to cinemas across the UK.
Featuring Orbital, The Prodigy, General Levy, Goldie, Jumpin Jack Frost, Bryan Gee, Altern 8, DJ Hype, Fabio, The Ragga Twins, Slipmatt, DJ Rap, and more, the film tells the story of how "when society fractured, electronic music took over."
Exploring England, struggling under unemployment and Margaret Thatcher’s policies, the film details how underground raves were born, taking over abandoned factories and secret fields.
The film uses never-before-seen archival footage and interviews with underground pioneers to uncover the story of a movement that “transformed music, culture, and the very essence of nightlife.”
The UK premiere will take place at London's Rio Cinema on 27th March 2026 with a Q&A with director Eduardo Cubillo Blasco. Then the film heads to Brighton, Dublin, Birmingham, Nottingham, Newcastle, Cardiff, Glasgow, and more places, which will be announced soon.
