If there’s a genre of music that never lets you down, its techno. Or more specifically when techno is done with the mind-set of being uncompromising, relentless heads down tackle. Few do it better than Nicole Moudaber, one of the bastions of the sound when it’s in that blistering zone. She’s been feted by everyone from Carl Cox to Adam Beyer and in recent years has established herself as one of the premier draws on the scene, rapidly increasing her exposure in the UK.

She’s scheduled to make her debut at Yousef presents… Circus tomorrow evening, joining a bill that is already bulging with Nina Kraviz, Noir and Hot Since 82, and has a fervent summer of action ahead with Ibiza firmly on the horizon, including gigs for Marco Carola and Carl Cox’s flagship events.

Hey Nicole! You're due to play for Carl Cox's flagship night at Space shortly, how much do you enjoy being on the island with Carl?

I enjoy it a lot. Ibiza is my second home and playing at Space with Carl feels like home too. That's where it all started for me really, the night and the atmosphere are quite special and meaningful to me.

Is it still the place to be?

Without a doubt.

Your album Making Believe was out recently; you pleased with how it was received by the press, public and your peers?

The album is called "Believe".  I'm very pleased - I wasn't expecting this sort of reaction from everyone, people felt it and loved it and for me that's a major result.  It topped the charts for six weeks in a row, from the deep house charts all the way to techno and that's very rare for an artist album.

I recently received an email from Amazon with my title Believe as a subject heading. That put a smile on my face for couple of days.

We also enjoyed your video talking about the making of it! Had that always been the plan to go into detail behind the science of the record?

No it wasn't actually, I was filming sporadically various gigs I’ve done, and we thought we should collate them with an interview. The footage was there, the album was about to come out, it was all very spontaneous. It did give me a chance to talk about matters that were dear to my heart from making the album, to my state of mind and a bit of my history. There’s tons more to talk about, maybe i will have a sequel to it…

We've also seen you’re due to play Yousef presents... Circus shortly, which is a first time in Liverpool right? Have you been to the city as a guest before? What can the clubbers there expect from you?

It will be my first time performing, there's a lot of hype already about this show which is quite exciting. The line up is very cool too, Yousef, Nina Kraviz and loads more. I have heard so much about Circus but never got to experience it yet, I'm very much looking forward to it.

I will be arriving from MusicOn Ibiza via Drumcode Awakenings Amsterdam to hit the decks at 3AM at Circus. Clubbers know what I'm about and I will bring it to them, Moudaber style.

Where else have you got gigs coming up you're looking forward to?

More gigs in Ibiza, I have MusicOn with Marco Carola, and my Mood label party this summer in August at Sands. That’s got a fantastic line up and will be broadcasted live on Sonica Radio. Then there is the Monegros festival in the desert - I'm playing the main stage with Underworld, I'm a huge fan - and various shows with Adam Beyer this summer worldwide. Then of course my September shows in the states, kicking off at Electric Zoo festival in New York.

What DJs and producers have caught your ear this year?

Tom Peters from Berlin. He’s the bomb. He delivered a remix for me coming out on my label MOOD, just out of this world. It’s dead cool sounds this boy has got going, he's had a few releases on Kompakt, he's playing with me this summer on August 7 Mood at Sands Ibiza. If you're on the island, check him out.

And finally what else lies in the future for you?

I'm putting the finishing touches on my collaboration with Carl Cox – we have finished the original, now we're just having our individual mixes done. Once that's completed I will put it out on MOOD -it’s a scud missile.

I’ve also recently completed my Skin (Skunk Anansie) project, a couple of techno bombs with her on the vocals, amazing to say the least. It’s exciting times on the production front, loads of touring this summer as well.
