We had a look at DJ, producer, record label owner, and Radio 1 host Danny Howard’s career ahead of his performance at Highest Point Festival in May this year.

Music-obsessed Danny Howard is a (mainly) house DJ, producer, radio host, and record label owner. From fiddling around on the decks in his uni days to performing at festivals, taking residencies in Ibiza, and supporting Fatboy Slim on tour, his rise to prominence as a DJing star and tastemaker is nothing short of incredible. We can’t wait to lose ourselves in his surely insane upcoming performance at Highest Point Festival this year. But first, let’s take a look at how far he’s come.

Hailing from Blackpool, Danny always loved music but found himself giving DJing a whirl during his spare time as he had to resit a module. Admitting he was actually “rubbish” when he started at 19, he practised until he was good enough to begin showcasing his skills.

Hours of practice led to a residency at The Syndicate in Blackpool, the largest club in the North West of England and three months playing at Ministry of Sound in Egypt.

In 2011, BBC Radio 1 held a Superstar DJ competition to find the hottest new Ibiza talent. Danny entered and secured the win, beating hundreds of DJs all over the UK. Immediately after his win, he was taken to the airport and flown out to Ibiza to join a lineup of the world’s biggest DJs and perform for thousands at the legendary Ushuaia Beach Hotel and a global online audience. His performance was so immense he secured a two-hour set at Space Ibiza the same night.

Since 2012, Danny has released tracks and EPs including the track Remember with Sonny Fodera and Gorgon City. Always a fan of many genres, Danny focuses mainly on house music but is no stranger to tapping into other electronic genres.

Truly underrated, Danny Howard is one for any house fan to keep an eye on. If you’re as eager to catch Danny tearing up the decks as we are, you can catch him at Highest Point Festival this year in Lancaster on Thursday 11th - Saturday 13th May. Joining him will be K-Klass, Hacienda Classical, House Gospel Choir, and many more spanning house, drum and bass, disco, pop, and indie.
