August is a massive month for comedy, with the Edinburgh Fringe in full swing and comics across the country sharpening up new sets, touring fresh shows, and dropping into some of the UK’s best-loved comedy rooms.
Thankfully, you don’t have to be in Edinburgh to catch something brilliant, as Skiddle has another stacked month of stand-up, showcase nights, work-in-progress chaos, club favourites, and big-name specials waiting for you.

Where: Creatures Comedy Club in Manchester
Creatures Comedy Festival bows out in style this August with a finale showcase in their Oldham Street basement, bringing together festival acts, local Manchester favourites, and a few potential surprise drop-ins for good measure.
With the festival built around preview shows before comedians head up to Edinburgh, some are up doing their hour shows, others will be pros who are in town; you literally don't know who's going to be stepping out onto that stage, but what you do know is they're going to cause a funny-bone-breaking riot.

Where: Blackfriars Basement in Glasgow
Armed with his signature wit, razor-sharp storytelling, and a complete inability to take himself seriously, Shane is back in Glasgow for a special live filming of Hold Me Back.
Whether you're a regular Tea With Me listener or a long-time fan of the Belfast superstar, this is a prime opportunity to see him record a special in one of Glasgow's best comedy venues. There are two screenings, so you've double the chance, but tickets are limited, so grab them soon!

Where: The Continental in Preston
Dan Nightingale brings a signature night of hilarity to Preston, and he's being joined by some seriously funny mates.
Co-host of the comedic titan that is The Have A Word Podcast, he's one of the best comedians in the biz, and this Preston run sees him joined by Eshaan Akbar both nights, with Rob Mulholland appearing on the 27th and Simon Wozniak on the 28th. Basically, a very tidy bill for anyone who likes their comedy sharp, northern, and completely unfiltered.

Where: The Glee Club in Birmingham
COBO: Comedy Shutdown returns to Birmingham for a bank holiday special at The Glee Club, bringing a big night of stand-up to one of the city’s most reliable comedy rooms.
With Richard Blackwood, Sharifa Butterfly, Bamph, Ryan Lewis, Mr Cee, and more, this is one stacked bill, so brace yourself for a night filled with side-splitting, knee-slapping comedy! Grab your tickets below.

Where: The Continental in Preston
The Laughienda keeps its third year rolling with another huge night at The Continental, this time bringing viral sensation Karl Porter and podcast favourite Rob Mulholland to South Meadow Lane.
Mulholland is one of the north’s most distinctive comedy voices, known for his Dead Men Talking antics and wild, high-energy sets that go exactly where they probably shouldn’t. Add Karl Porter into the mix, and you’ve got a midweek comedy night that will make you question why you don't go out on Wednesday more often.

Where: Cumbernauld New Town Hall in Cumbernauld
Jo Caulfield continues her Bad Mood Rising - A new show built around the things that irritate, trigger, and generally wind us all up - Scottish tour throughout August, and this night at Cumbernauld New Town Hall is looking especially tasty.
Caulfield is a master of turning annoyance into precision-tooled punchlines, balancing bite, intelligence, and beautifully delivered frustration. Jo was voted Comedian’s Comedian of the Year for a reason; grab your ticket below and go and see why.

Where: Artista Cafe And Gallery in Brighton
The Secret Comedy Club at Artista is one of Brighton’s best small comedy rooms, offering a more intimate, friendly alternative to the bigger clubs, while still bringing in quality names from across the circuit.
This Friday edition features Dane Baptiste topping the bill, with MC Martin Warren joined by Neil McFarlane, Josh Dillon, and more support. With its no-heckling policy, award-winning Fringe venue reputation, and close-up setting, it is a great shout for a proper comedy night without the chance of rowdy nonsense.

Where: Stir Stores in Birmingham
Monthly comedy is back in Stirchley as Take Me To Stirch returns to Stir Stores, with Birmingham comics Harry Jenkins and Rachel Baker hosting another night of old material, new material, and proper circuit talent.
This August edition brings viral sensation Sandro Ford into the mix, which basically means this is going to descend into hilarious chaos of the very best kind. If you don't know Sandro, get to know, and grab your tickets below.

Where: Brockley Brewery in London
Collywobblers Comedy brings a belting bill to Brockley Brewery Taproom this August, led by the wonderfully chaotic Nick Helm bringing an Edinburgh Fringe preview and work-in-progress set.
Helm is a full-force comic presence, mixing rock ’n’ roll energy, big set pieces, one-liners, and the sort of emotional mayhem that has made him a star. With Micah Hall, Salma Lyons, Daniel Tizon, a special guest TBC, and MC Sion James also involved, this cosy south east London night is going to test the integrity of every funny bone in attendance.

Where: The HIFI Club in Leeds
The HIFI Club’s Comedy Club is a Leeds comedy staple, and this Saturday edition brings Matt Richardson (who you may have seen across all the TV Shows and from his newfound TikTok fame) and guests to the basement.
He's joined by Paul Tonkinson, Amit Mistry, and Pete Otway, for what is undoubtedly going to be a night of serious giggling at Leeds ' longest-running independent comedy club. Grab tickets below now
