                      Review of Rory McLeod

                      Overall rating: 5 Verified review

Rory McLeod is awesome-I'd never heard of him till I read the Continental news page-the Conetintal Bistro in Preston is a hidden gem for little known music and arts, the stage is small but this adds to intimate performance and atmosphere(the food's pretty good too although a touch pricey it's worth it for a treat).
The Conteinetal review sounded interesting so I forked out 6- a Bargain for a two hour show.Mr McLeod works hard for his money -this singer songwriter with a social conscience(his song title's say it all;"When a Child Starves in Peacetime","Farewell to Wellfare","Too old for the orphanage, too young for the retirement home") pays guitar, spoons and a mean blues harmonica that surreally morphs into a police siren or telephone on occasions, interspersed with his rambling stories from his travels all over the world which are droll, witty and downright surreal at times akin in fashion to his fellow Scots Billy Connolly and Chic Murray. He had lots of fans in the audiance and no wonder he is loved for he is loving, speaking to everyone in the break about everything-I didn't have quite enough money for a CD-but he gave me it anyway-"Just don't tell anyone " he quipped-oops! Sorry Rory. This guy is a geniuine one off-see him while you can, you won't be disapointed.I for one am I new fan.

                      Review of The Floyd Band

                      Overall rating: 5

Skiddle asked me to review last night's Floyd Band gig at The Contie!! As I'm in the band I'd take that into consideration but, all in all, I thought we were pretty bloody fantastic
