Mixmag Live has been one of the country's most formidable parties this year, with past guests like Tensnake, Seth Troxler, Hot Since 82, Heidi and Defected Records all tearing up parties across the UK with legendary results.

Friday 26th September sees Mixmag Live head to Bristol with none other than Julio Bashmore taking centre stage. Whilst Bashmore grew up in the bass music community of Bristol, his first love was always house music. The cross pollination of ideals lead to him cultivating a sound that was fiercely original, giving rise to an exciting way of approaching dance music production.

As one of the very first to bring a bass heavy philosophy to the house music template, he soon found his sound in demand from imprints like ghetto bass specialists Dirtybird, and Doc Daneeka's Ten Thousand Yen, which saw 'Footsteppin' (above) in particular become the staple for DJs traversing the worlds of bass and house back in 2010.

Further records came to light on imprints like Martyn's 3024 and Futureboogie, leading to his production skills being lent to the likes of Jessie Ware in her mesmerising single 'If You're Never Gonna Move' (below). Then came 'Au Seve' which became simply one of the biggest dance records of 2012, a hit in both the underground and the mainstream.

The innovative Bristolian continues to explore a palate of lilting melodies and soulful reflectiveness, packaging it in club ready bass heavy bangers, maintaining a sound that is purely his own. Expect to witness some of his insightful genius when he takes to the decks for Mixmag Live, to a home crowd, on September 26th. Grab your Julio Bashmore tickets here.
