June in Ibiza

It’s here. Ibiza Season is in full effect and each month we’ll be bringing you a look into some of the picks the island has to offer, starting off with this analysis into the month of June. Although some of the events are still awaiting their entrance, Carl Cox at Space and Solomun and Diynamic’s huge Neon Nights at Sankeys don’t swing into action until July, June nevertheless sees a great amount of choice on the island and some cracking opening parties too. The weather is also that little bit milder as well, perfect for those of you who go a bit funny when the mercury rises too high.

Opening Parties

The big one this month is We Love… Space, which opens up on June 9^th. Still the most famous night on arguably the island’s most famous club, their seventeen week run begins with Carl Craig, James Zabiela, Henrik Schwarz and oodles more. We also caught up earlier in the week with music programmer Mark Broadbent for an insight into what to expect this summer.

Elsewhere tonight has Kehakuma also opening at Space, whilst Ibiza Rocks kicks off on Wednesday June 5^th, Loco Dice’s brand new used + abused soiree at Ushuaia on the 6^th, Privilege the 7^th, Amnesia on Saturday June 8^th as well as Carnival at Sankeys the same night, making for a frantic first week of action.

Then the big guns come out for the following week. Amnesia has Cocoon and Cream opening, Sven Vath and Ricardo Villalobos kicking in for Cocoon, Paul van Dyk, Paul Oakenfold and Laidback Luke for Cream. Later on Steve Lawler gets his Viva Warriors soiree running on Sunday 23rd.

And there’s a lot to choose from the parties that are already open. Pacha have Guy Gerber’s party Wisdom of the Glove on Wednesdays to look forward to, as well as Solomun going back to back with a different guest every Sunday. Ocean Club, Es Paradis, Eden, and a soon to be opened Bomba are all other options for you to explore as well.

Off the Balearic Track

There’s literally TOO much happening on a daily never mind monthly basis to ever pick a favourite, but that said we can still steer you towards an event which may have escaped your attention. Our pick this time round is when Manchester agency the Underground take over Carnival at Sankeys on Saturday June 22^nd, with Norwegian house leviathan Finnebassen headlining.

Suggested Activity

It’s an obvious one but whether you are a veteran or a virgin of the island, make sure you catch a sunset. Ibiza is as much about the relaxation as it is the party and one of the venues that catches both activities best is Café Mambo.
