Biography

Folks bring together classic song writing with emotive vocals and irresistible melodies, it’s music to be listened to and enjoyed over and over. The band were formed when guitarist and writer Michael Beasley hooked up with vocalist Scott Anderson and the duo relocated to the US to record what would become their debut album, ‘I See Cathedrals’. On their return the duo recruited a full band (Thom Fripp – lead guitar, Harry Gumery – bass, Wil Akroyd - keyboards and Elliot Barlow – drums) ensuring they could also let rip live and they’ve since won over audiences at venues large and small.

Following on from their Autumn 2011 UK tour with Miles Kane and a Halloween show at the Roundhouse with Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, FOLKS announced a European Tour for 2012. Currently on the road supporting Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds again as they hit Barcelona, Paris, Hamburg, Berlin, Munich, Rome & Zurich. The band also play a number of more intimate club shows in Germany, France and Italy too. The band kicked off 2012 with a ‘HMV Next Big Thing’ show at the Borderline playing with US rockers ‘We Are Augustines’ – and more UK shows are planned in April and May.

An 8 track mini album is available from iTunes in the UK and album tracks ‘Avalanche’ and ‘Skull & Bones’ have already been picked up by a number of blogs too. This year will see the release of their debut album ‘I See Cathedrals’.
