Review of Soul Town w/ Martha Reeves & The Vandellas
Terrible Night! Venue change caused a nightmare! Very Very Disappointed
Would you recommended: No
Venue was overcrowded, too hot, long queue for toilets and bar, dance floor littered with cans, plastic cups, beer. Totally unfit for a northern soul night. Changing the venue at last minute and not offering the option of a refund is not acceptable. Won't be using skiddle again!
Absolutely terrible !! Venue changed without notification! New venue far too small for the number of tickets sold. Martha Reeves couldn't hold a note very poor singing. I really want my money back, my friend has a fear of crowded places so she could not go into the room where it was held. There was no air conditioning which made it unbearable. If there had been a fire it would have been impossible to get out safely.
Absolute disaster, dangerously overcrowded when live act on, no control on numbers in the main room so ended up a solid mass of people just adding more and more at the back. Venue insisted not over capacity (yet security where "checking as concerned"), never seen anything so poorly managed. Checks were not taking place from bar to club, people just walking in off street Yet capacity is for all areas according to the manager (yet car open to public and upstairs closed). Left as nowhere to see the show, then even after a huge amount if people leaving at 10.15 (!) Even then there was no room to dance.. never mind northern would style. I understand it even finished at 1.30! Though I'm surprised anyone stayed, but people we spoke to had made a massive effort to travel.
If event had been left at Albert Hall, closed balcony, even wirh less peopple, it would have gone off with a bab1g and sold more 2bd time around. This was just a disaster.

Review of Stanley Clarke
Great concert and nice to see Uncle Stanley back in Manchester.Only wished Stanley had more banter and anecdotes and mentioned the great George Duke🎼

Excellent..sounded absolutely amazing, lovely venue.
great place , not too big so as to loose the intimate feel. Great gig.
It's not often you get to see a master of his art on the flesh.
Sometimes you watch a hero and your expectations are not fulfilled, this was 100% the opposite. Usually a great musician makes me want to burn my guitars and bases, Stanley has inspired me to work and practice harder.
The band (a four piece) two keyboards and a powerhouse drummer where also fantastic.
The night will leave memories forever in my head and heart, thanks Stanley/guys.
Loved the smaller venue, it fitted the gig and created a great ambiance.
After a strong opening it very rapidly declined into a jazz-fusion noodle-fest - three drum solos? I mean, come on... but that's just a personal thing: I've always preferred his more jazz-rock/jazz-funk stuff, of which there was very little.
The venue itself, though, was wonderful - small, intimate and unpretentious - will definitely be coming again!
A truly memorable night! The opportunity to see Stanley Clarke in such an intimate venue was amazing. He played brilliantly and everyone was "in the moment" as he improvised with his band. A room full of bass players watching the master - epic night!

1st venue at the Underdog was a sweat box, only lasted 30 mins. Gorilla much better, music was top draw for 1st two Djs, went steadily downhill after that. Culminating in a truly awful set from the final dj of the night Jason FUBAR.
