Best for: Getting lost in the music

Capacity: 650

Location: 13-14 Liberty Ln in Dublin

Sick of watching a DJ through someone else’s phone screen? Head to block. Found on Liberty Lane, the club has a strict no-phones policy, covering phone cameras on arrival and asking you to use them strictly off the dancefloor.

The likes of Joss Dean, Franky Wah, Dr Dubplate and Locky have all graced the decks at the Liberty Lane venue, but there’s a clear commitment to building the city’s electronic community, too. You’ll often find Dublin-based DJs like Elena Leao and Kayleigh Glynn taking up support slots alongside established names. So, put down that phone, round up your mates and give the DJ your full, undivided attention at one of the best nightclubs in Dublin. It might just be the best night of the year.

Twenty Two Dublin

Best for: House music with an Ibiza flair

Capacity: 350

Location: 22 South Anne St in Dublin

If you missed Ibiza season this year, don’t worry. We’ve got Ibiza at home. Okay, maybe minus the sun, but stepping into Twenty Two feels like being on the White Isle.

There’s a lavish chandelier hanging from the ceiling, deep lighting and VIP seating overlooking the dancefloor, and the club often collaborates with Ibiza heavyweights like Cafe Mambo. But if that’s not your thing, don’t despair. You’ll find afrobeat and amapiano nights, after-parties for big-name concerts and some of Dublin’s best selectors going back-to-back on stacked lineups. Pull out your sharpest fit, grab your mates and have a dance. You won’t regret it.

The Sound House

Image: The Sound House / Facebook.com

Best for: Intimate club nights and terrace parties

Capacity: 300

Location: 1st Floor, 28 Eden Quay in Dublin

Big nights don’t always need massive rooms. Above The Wiley Fox on Eden Quay, The Sound House packs plenty into a space that holds around 300 clubbers.

A Void soundsystem supplies the bass, while bookings range from house and techno to psytrance, giving different crews room to bring their own flavour. There’s a rooftop terrace, too, with separate sessions taking the party outside. So, whether you’re after an intimate dancefloor or fancy catching some house grooves in the open air, keep an eye on the programme. You might find your next favourite party just one floor above the pub downstairs.

Yamamori Tengu

Best for: Stripped-back clubbing

Capacity: 250

Location: 37 Strand Street Great in Dublin

Sometimes, all you need is a small room, a Funktion-One soundsystem, quality bookings and a team who cares. That’s Yamamori Tengu. Found in the back room of Japanese restaurant Yamamori, it’s tailor-made for dancing, partly because they fill the room with warm red lighting and a load of smoke.

The bookings help, too. Whether it's international stars like Ben UFO and Octo Octa, or Irish talents like OR:LA and Eliza, you’re getting quality music all night long. They also take welfare seriously, with a dedicated Night Time Monitor team helping to keep ravers safe. Oh, and there are interactive rave plants, but we’ll let you figure that one out for yourself.

Best for: International and local acts under one roof

Capacity: Curveball – 80-150 | Centrepoint – 550

Location: Curved St, Temple Bar in Dublin

No, you can’t get a button for your beat-up, old coat at Button Factory. But what you can do is head into Curveball and Centrepoint, two Dublin clubs housed inside, and hear some of the best electronic music Dublin has to offer.

Dad jokes aside, Curveball hosts day-parties and intimate nights in an 80-150 capacity room, while Centrepoint has brought through the likes of Jyoty, DJ Seinfeld and Leftfield for raucous DJ sets. So, head there for big names and reserve Curveball for local acts from Dublin and Ireland. There’s more than one road to a good night here, so follow the lineup, book your ticket and let the music do the rest.

Index

Best for: Big names on a big soundsystem

Capacity: 1,000

Location: 57 Middle Abbey Street in Dublin

Group chats can be a graveyard of nearly-organised nights and continuous ‘we should go’ messages. So, if you’ve been looking to have a banging night, here’s your cue to stop messing around and get to Index, which is located inside The Academy.

Genre-wise, it’s a mix. But the most important thing is that they bring through the big guns. Claptone? Check. Silva Bumpa? Check. Paul Van Dyk? Check. You get the picture. Big names, different sounds, and an L-Acoustics sound system making sure you feel every build-up, drop and throb of bass. We don’t think there’s much better in this world.

Wigwam

Best for: Multi-room clubbing

Capacity: 770 (Main room: 390, Basement: 300, Terrace 80)

Location: 54 Middle Abbey Street in Dublin

Sure, partying in one room is great. But how about three? Wigwam houses a main room, basement and terrace inside its building on Middle Abbey Street. And the best thing? They open up each one for club nights.

You’ll find Wigwam Presents, Stacked and Resonate, which all bring national and international talent from around the world. While the likes of Nikki Nair, KiNK, Raredub and Main Phase have blessed the stage at Wigwam, it’s not all about mainstage talent. Stacked gives the keys to up-and-coming DJs from around Ireland, meaning this club is as much about discovering new talent as it is about snagging major headliners.

The Racket Space

Best for: Musical discovery

Capacity: 300

Location: Cross Guns Bridge in Dublin

If you love underground, DIY clubbing spaces, then we reckon The Racket Space will be up your street. Found underneath The Bernard Shaw, it’s a club, gig space, studio and also houses a record shop, The Racket Store, which is suitably run by Dublin electronic purveyors Absys Records.

Events-wise, you’ll find international house and techno, cult DJs and big nights courtesy of local and grassroots talent. So, if you’re looking for something cool with those in the know, check out The Racket Space.

Pawn Shop

Best for: Tacos, cocktails and techno

Capacity: 500

Location: 15 Dame Street in Dublin

Tacos, cocktails and a techno bunker? Sounds like a good night to us. We’re talking about Pawn Shop, which is found on Dame Street and runs music across two floors.

The club programme often features LGBTQ+ nights and rising names in electronic music like Gabrielle Kwarteng, as well as student nights and events headed up by local Dublin DJs. There’s also Neon Kollectiv’s Sunday Service, and all we’ll say is: hard techno on a Sunday. We’ll let you discover the rest.

The Grand Social

Best for: Multi-genre nights

Capacity: 650

Location: 35 Liffey Street Lower in Dublin

Since opening back in 2010, The Grand Social has been regarded as one of the top clubs in Dublin. That’s partly down to its pristine sound, which, let’s be honest, makes all the difference when it comes to club nights.

The bookings are on point, too. Expect cutting-edge hard techno in the form of HOT BOXX, indie discos, progressive house and drum and bass. Acts like Simon Vuarambon, MPH and Davyboi have graced The Grand Social’s stage in the past, so whether you’re a stickler for 2-step beats or long build-ups and epic drops, we’re sure you’ll find something here.

Tips for clubbing in Dublin

Book early

Some of Dublin’s biggest club nights can shift tickets quickly, especially when a major DJ, label or promoter is in town. If you already know you want to go, booking early is usually the safest bet and saves you from scrambling around once tickets start disappearing.

Use Remind Me

Spotted an event you like, but tickets aren’t on sale yet? Use Skiddle’s Remind Me feature and you can get alerts before they’re released. You’ll receive reminders the evening before and shortly before tickets go on sale, along with a direct link to the event, so you’ve got less chance of missing out.

Use Waiting List

Missed out on tickets? All might not be lost. For sold-out events, you can join Skiddle’s Waiting List and be notified if tickets become available. It works on a first-come, first-served basis, so the earlier you join, the better your chances of getting tickets.

Pay In 3

If a big club night is stretching the budget a little, PayPal Pay in 3 lets you split eligible Skiddle purchases of £20 or more across three interest-free payments. Just select PayPal at checkout and, if available, you’ll be given the option to spread the cost rather than paying everything upfront.

Whether you’re switching off at block., heading into Wigwam’s basement or starting with tacos at Pawn Shop, the best clubs in Dublin give you plenty of reasons to get your mates together. Pick your spot, check the lineup and find tickets for your next night out on Skiddle.
