Happy Mondays

Last up, Sunday 11th August will end the Junction 16 Festival on a high, as some of the leading lights of Manchester's rich musical heritage will all converge on the Cheshire venue. Headlining will be the Happy Mondays, possibly one of the most influential bands to have come from the northern city. Epitomizing the rave culture of the Hacienda days, their notoriety came with the release of their second well received album ‘Bummed’. Their follow up “Pills ‘n’ Thrills and Bellyaches”, produced by our artist of the month Paul Oakenfold, cemented their reputation as trailblazing impresarios.

Watch: Happy Mondays - Step On

With the original lineup now back after many years apart, expect a fantastic display of old favourites and new material as the Madchester lads show they’ve still got what it takes, 30 years on.

They will be joined by 808 State. Quoted as being ‘masters of their art’, ‘godfathers’ and artists ‘who sketched the blueprint for British techno as we know it’ - 808 state have remained essential parts of the techno scene. Their live performances still have the same power that they did way back in the late 80’s.

Rounding off the Manchester themed finale will be Peter Hook & The Light. Former Joy Division and New Order member Peter Hook has been touring the country with The Light playing the first two New Order albums with fantastic responses all round. Betley is preparing to have a fantastic walk down memory line as Peter Hook & the Light recreate some of the finest material New Order ever penned. All in all, this is shaping up to be a monumental festival, with some of the biggest British acts ever preparing to converge on Betley.
