We've got a soft spot for the baby faced Sheffield producer Toddla T. As well as being the other half of rave vixen Annie Mac, his cross pollinations of genres have been favourites of ours since the steel city reggae enthusiast burst into the scene in 2007, and his 2011 opus Watch me Dance is still an album we love (stream below on Spotify).
Right from the beginning when Roots Manuva adds his vocal to the title track, it's a journey through Toddla's rich palette of music. There's lover's rock esque skanking on 'Lovely Girl', piano ravey stabs on 'Take it Back', the utterly ridiculous jumped up dancehall of 'Badman Flu' and the way 'Do it your own way' melts out of the swaggering laidback intro into a full on breakbeat bolstered workout is great. Perfect escapism form the utter misery that is November.
Toddla T will be bringing his soundystsem to Leeds on Saturday 23rd November in the Warehouse, the DJ now joined by Shola Ama, Serocee & DRS. Support comes in the shape of Benga and Mele - head here for more info.
