Essential Listening: House and Techno

Let’s Get Sexy - Honeyluv, NEZ

Originally from Ohio, house DJ and producer, Honeyluv, linked up with NEZ on this new house banger. About the track, NEZ said, “I wanted to make a track that felt like something on a runway or make people feel good about themselves in the club.”  -

Bubbly, confident, and somewhat nonchalant, the track oozes personality. We’d say they nailed the vibe they were going for on this one as you could definitely see someone posing to this one. Either that or voguing. Keeping the track interesting, these house sections are sandwiched between sharper, darker, eerier dance sections to keep listeners on their toes.

Essential Listening: Indie and Alternative

Theia / The Silver Cord / Set - King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard

One of the strangest we-do-what-we-want bands probably ever, King Gizz, has announced a new album, sharing three tracks to give us a taste of what’s to come.

The insanely prolific band seem to be following up their last album - an apocalyptic fantasy thrash metal LP - with their most electronic album yet, with one track even featuring a rapped verse. But of course, if there was any band in the world to change direction so suddenly, it’d be King Gizz. We aren’t even that surprised. But we are still excited.

Sounding like alien music, it’s a mystery how this band continue to write so much quality music that explores so many genres and influences.

Announced to headline Wide Awake Festival in London next year, god knows how many more albums they’ll have released by then.

Essential Listening: Drum & Bass and Jungle

The Corner - Sigma ft. Joe Devlin

Borrowing the melody from Tom's Diner by Suzanne Vega (you may remember that viral video of those lads singing it on TikTok), we’re sure this’ll have everyone singing along in the rave. The pop elements of the track are sure to help convert those new to the genre, especially now with so many DnB tracks in the charts.

A little dark with some spacey elements in there, this one’s somewhat transcendental and hypnotising. Secure tickets to see them below, including student discount tickets!

Essential Listening: Hip-Hop and Jazz

Risky (Remix) - KingTrey, Mick Jenkins, Mark Battles, Blvck Svm

Fusing multiple styles with so many incredible talents on the track, Risky dips into jazz in the instrumental, R&B in the chorus (looking at you, backing vocals), and hip-hop seamlessly. Taken from KingTrey’s SOUTHEND LEGEND album, released in late July this year, the remix offers a verse from Mark Battles.

Laidback and visceral, this is one to listen to while deep in thought.

With recent releases from most artists featured on the track, it’s a nice reminder of all the new music we have to sink our teeth into, especially Jenkins’ stunning new jazz rap project, The Patience
