Brillant nite as always in the masque Laurent Garnier smashed it!!

Garnier's set was typically infectious, a master at work crafting an exquisite journey through sound.  Atmosphere was good all night and the venue looks and sounds better than ever.

You know you're in for a night that's just a little bit different when one of the first things you find when you arrive at the venue is a stall selling the DJ's own-label tea. Good stuff it is, too.

Early on, the music has a similar feel - warm, welcoming, but with a slightly different take on something that is deeply familiar: good music.

Moving with ease between dub, reggae, jazz, soul, with mixing and selections that surprise as well as entertain, the crowd is taken gently at first into Mr Scruff's world. With wonky graphics backing up his trademark sound, the ambience has the feel of a sunny afternoon in the park, rather than the Masque's dark, womb-like main room on a cold November evening.

As the crowd swells, The Scruffy One starts dropping some party bombs, with hip-hop, house and electro 'classics' (for that is what they are, even if you've never heard them before) being added to the mix. Even amongst these, Bob Marley still gets one of the biggest reactions; and I begin to feel like I've got a handle on the night.

Which is when Mr Scruff really takes off, and turns into a sort of one-man Basement Jaxx. Wow. I have never experienced bass so finely tuned that it very specifically makes your eyebrows want to join in the dance. I may have eaten four curries this week; but not even I make noises this rude.

Being rather older than most of the crowd, I didn't make it to the afterparty; but I went home happy.

Now - where can I buy some of that tea?


Mr Scruff - Keep It Unreal

i had a great time and so did my friends. It was brillient to see almost everyone dressed up in fancy dress, everyone made a real effort. The music was fab and the venue is strating to look great. I even heard alot of people commenting on how good the sound system is in there now.

amazing one of the best nights in years boys noize brought the house crashing roud my ears with such enormity i loved every second of it, im deffinatley going to buy tickets for Simian mobile disco, fake blood, caspa, and rusko that sounds like one deadly night cant wait

Awesome Night, Quality line up. Felix was amazing - Great set massive crowd pleaser! Not made any massive changes to the club which is a good thing, Still one of the best clubs in the uk! Will be there agin in a couple of weeks - Goodtimes!

Seriously funked up breaks. I expected as much since the plumps were playin, they never fail to rev up a dance floor, non stop hit after hit, didnt stop dancin through the whole set, must have lost some major weight.

only problem was the heat upstairs. it wasn't even full but the heat was intense. as far as i could see there was no air-con or fans.

But overall, a top night out had by the whole crew.
