Reviews of GLAM in Cardiff
GLAM venue information
Conveniently sited amongst a cosmopolitan hive of activity, Glam appears to be adapting well to its lively surroundings. The exterior is nothing to write home about, its mountainous steel staircase can be a bit demanding to navigate after a few too many mojitos. However, once you have reached the peak, a spacious and contemporary first floor awaits. Expect walls adorned with floods of vibrant fuchsia pink, accompanied by clean, sophisticated black surfaces and a bar that boasts an impressive boudoir feel. Choose from the ultra modern high white stools or the comfortable leather seating to sit back and relax with a drink of your preference, before heading down the catwalk style walkway to show off your moves on the dance floor.
When you have satisfied your dancing urges, be sure to venture upstairs to more exclusive surroundings, encompassing the secretive VIP area with its black one way mirrors and concealed hideaway. Also on the second floor, discover the tranquil lounge area. Here you can indulge in the cool contrast of delicate blue and aqua green, enhancing the effortless floating white voile curtains. Be sure to take advantage of the waitress service that is offered for those who reserve a private bay area. Perfect for entertaining clients or a frivolous night out with friends.
The clienteles’ age ranges from 18 during the week, with its fun and friendly student vibe, to strictly over 21s on the weekend, which pulls in more of a fashionable crowd and unbeatable atmosphere. The door staff are surprisingly welcoming and well presented, as are the accommodating bar staff, which makes a refreshing change to the club as it was previously known.
Music genres range from super cool soulful house (Saturdays) to indie rock. It’s open six nights a week (it’s closed Tuesdays) and it plays host to some of the best student nights in Cardiff, there’s Bar FTSE on Thursdays and their very own student night on a Wednesday with great offers. Credit Crunch Fridays is a recent move from the club, where they open earlier (5pm), offer some good deals, and try and get the after work crowd in.
They have some great drinks deals in the week, including a vodka and red bull for as little as £1.50 (£2 for a double). Bargain. Or, if you prefer something a bit classier, select from their endless list of cocktails and champagnes. Watch out for the price though as this will set you back £5.50 for the classically refreshing Margarita to £7 for the luxurious Belvedere Martini.
The Last Word
Glam dazzles with an abundance of style and allure, but is perhaps too spacious for the number of clients it attracts. Nonetheless, this club is definitely worth a look.
