Bonfire Night is back in the North East, and whether you're smack bang in the centre of Newcastle or nearby, there's no better time to stargaze. In and around the Tyne area, many of the towns from Gateshead to North Shields will be putting on local affairs that fill the sky with explosions of colour and light!

But do not fear about having to travel too far, as all these events are 45 minutes or less away from the city centre, and you can still get the family together, be warmed by the bonfire, and watch the spectacle unfold. Gosforth Fireworks Extravaganza

Where: Broadway West Playing Fields in Gosforth, Newcastle

Get ready for a blast at Gosforth Fireworks Extravaganza 2024! The annual Newcastle Round Table fireworks display is set to light up the sky at Broadway West Playing Fields once again this year, with the biggest display in the area.

Expect over 120 dazzling effects per minute, fire performers, rides for the kids, and plenty of snacks to keep you going. Gates open at 5pm, with the fireworks kicking off around 7pm, so arrive early or risk missing the main event! Plus, every penny raised goes to local charities. Tynemouth Cricket Club's Fireworks display

When: Saturday 8th November 2025

Where: Tynemouth Cricket Club in Newcastle

This year, explosions of colour will paint the North Shields night sky at Tynemouth Cricket Club's epic fireworks display! Get the little uns down as well for a fun night of gawking at the explosions in the sky. 

This family-friendly event promises dazzling fireworks, fairground rides, tasty food stalls, a bar to keep you toasty, and of course an awe-inspiring fireworks display that will kick off at 7pm sharp. The organisers have warned that parking is a nightmare, so take the hint and hop on public transport. Plus, with the weather being what it is up North, make sure to pack your wellies and your warmest coat—you’ll thank us later. Fireworks and Bonfire Spectacular 

When: Sunday 2nd November 2025

Where: Sunderland Live in Houghton-le-Spring

A surefire hit for the whole family, this Fireworks and Bonfire Spectacular is the place to be in Sunderland come the long-awaited weekend. In addition to the amazing fireworks display, the event also features a funfair comprising family rides, games, dazzling fire breather performances, stilt walkers, character meet and greets and a great range of street-food stalls. It’s a jam-packed evening of fun you won’t want to miss.

Alnwick Round Table Fireworks

Where:  Alnwick Town Jnrs Football Club in Newcastle

The Alnwick Round Table Fireworks 2025 is set to be the standout Bonfire Night event in Newcastle. Gates open at 6:30pm at their new site Alnwick Town Jnrs Football Club, where food and drink will be available before the fireworks kick off at 7:30pm sharp. The dazzling display lasts under an hour, making it a considerate choice for families with pets. With a community-focused atmosphere, this event offers a spectacular show while helping to reduce the need for private backyard displays. It’s a night of fiery fun you won’t want to miss!

 


 

Festival Of Fireworks

When: Saturday 1st November 2025

Where: Banks Homes Riverside Stadium in Chester-le-Street

The Festival of Fireworks is back and set to light up the night skies over Durham County Cricket Club at the start of November. Last year’s edition was a roaring success, bringing over 6,500 attendees to the Riverside Stadium, and this year promises more entertainment, more excitement, and most of all, some cracking fireworks displays. Gates open at 4:30, so you can either get there early doors or wait until the main show kicks off at 7:30. Either way, you’re in for a treat.

 


 

Gateshead Stadium Firework Frenzy

When: Saturday 1st November 2025

Where: Gateshead International Stadium in Gateshead

Making its dramatic debut in the run-up to Bonfire Night, Gateshead Stadium Firework Frenzy is set to take over the town in style. Boasting a dazzling display of fireworks dancing across the sky, the Firework Frenzy will feature a resident DJ spinning tunes, on-stage entertainment, and a giant fairground packed with thrills for all ages.
