The White Stripes and Outkast among Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2025 inductees
The inductees to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2025 have been revealed, with Outkast, The White Stripes, and Cyndi Lauper under the Performer category.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2025 inductees have been revealed.
Established in 1983, the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame or the RRHOF Foundation, was co-founded by industry multi-hyphenate Ahmet Ertegun. Held annually, usually between 6-12 inductees are chosen by industry and authorities and fans.
For artists to be eligible, their first recording must have been published at least 25 years prior to the current year. Artists can be nominated multiple times before they are chosen to be inducted.
The 2025 inductees were revealed on American Idol on Sunday (27th April 2025). This year’s 13 inductees are divided across four categories: Performer, Musical Influence Award, Musical Excellence Award, and the Ahmet Ertegun Award (formerly Non-Performers Award).
Inducted in the Performer category, we have ‘Girls Just Want To Have Fun’ singer Cyndi Lauper, hip-hop duo Outkast, grunge icons Soundgarden, garage rockers The White Stripes, '60s rock and blues vocalist Joe Cocker, iconic '60s rock n’ roll singer and dancer Chubby Checker, who popularised the Twist dance, and hard rock supergroup Bad Company in the Performer category.
The Musical Influence Award will go to ‘Push It’ hip-hop duo Salt-N-Pepa and American rock singer and songwriter Warren Zevon.
The Musical Excellence Award will go to songwriter, producer, and key Philadelphia soul player Thom Bell, pianist and organist Nicky Hopkins, and bassist Carol Kaye.
Finally, the Ahmet Ertegun Award - named after the Hall of Fame’s co-founder - (formerly Non-Performers Award) goes to Lenny Waronker, a record producer and music industry executive known for being head of A&R and later President at Warner Bros.
Some of the artists who made the longlist but didn't make the cut included Oasis and Mariah Carey - who were both also nominated last year - Phish, Billy Idol, The Black Crowes, and Joy Division/New Order.
Phish, despite winning the annual fan vote, have not been inducted.
The official induction ceremony is set to happen this November in Los Angeles, California.
