Penned by TLT LLP’s Partner and Head of Licensing, Stephen McGowan, the document features recommendations covering national & local governance, placemaking, licensing reform, and sustainability & diversity. Among the recommendations are calls to establish a Minister for the Night Time Economy (NTE) in Scotland, create local strategies to promote and support nightlife, promote professional development for nightlife workers, set up a dedicated fund to protect cultural venues, and more.
Calling Scotland’s NTE, “a vital cultural and economic powerhouse, employing over 137,000 people and generating £43.5 billion in economic activity,” NTIA wrote that the industry is “facing critical challenges from rising costs, restrictive policies, and insufficient government support.” You can download and read the full document here.
