In the latest line of impressive Mixmag live events, France's all conquering underground trio Apollonia arrive at London's Studio 338 on Saturday 9th of August for a night tailored to the house loving purists.
The triple entente consisting of Dan Ghenacia, Dyed Soundorom and Shonky aren't short of air miles, racking up high profile appearances at house shrines Panorama Bar, DC-10 and Fabric amongst a host of others as their brand of stripped back, funk heavy house continues to do the business at the world's most iconic rave dens.
Dan Ghanecia lies at the top of the Apollonia pyramid. The longstanding Parisian provocateur largely inspired the remaining members of the Apollonia collective to begin DJing and producing thanks to spinning records at many an afterparty during the nineties. He is also responsible for the highly regarded Freak 'n' Chic label that fathered Shonky's techno smash 'Cluborama' (below).
Freak n' Chic was the label that in fact broke Shonky, first releasing in 2005 after becoming well acquainted with Parisian dance culture. Since then the tech house vigilante has meandered through the club scene, releasing on Real Tone records through to hot techno imprint Sub Static representing his musical versatility that is fundamental to dance floor lunacy.
Forming the remainder of the trailblazing squad is the youngest of the three Dyed Soundorom, still boasting key appearances at Panorama bar and Womb in Tokyo. His outstanding talents transpired into releases on innovative label Crosstown Records and Tsuba records including a scintillating on point remix of Maya Jane Coles' 'What They Say' (below).
This year has seen Apollonia open the hallowed DC-10 ahead of retaining their residency there, whilst again cutting the ribbon at Ibiza's Amnesia, as the Ibizan pilgrims continue to crave their sublime tapestry of techno and house. Expect more of that Apollonia magic on the 9th. Grab your tickets here.
