It's got to be said that Ministry of Sound know there way around a DJ roster, and this time proves no different when they welcome just about the purest house & techno kingpins from across the pond alongside a pool of cutting edge producers in a double dosage of discerning house happenings on Saturday 11th October and Saturday 18th October.
One third of the Belleville three, Derrick May hits up Ministry of Sound, one of the techno originators first to hit British shores. May arrives as one of the true masters of the genre, first producing his own music back in the eighties when techno was rife in it's birthplace of Detroit. Fast forward almost a quarter of a century and he's still delivering straight up techno to the masses.
He's joined by Detroit stablemate Kenny Larkin, arriving out of the same eighties capita, serving heads with soul drenched techno that remains as relevant today as it was 20 years ago.
A contemporary twist is added to the occasion when Maribou State and Kry Wolf come to the fore. Maribou State first rose to prominence in 2012 with their smash 'Olivia', the duo have progressed massively since with their tantalising downtempo house most recently represented in their Truths EP (above). We turn our attentions to two of the underground's most respected American folk, DJ Sneak and Todd Terry. Both artists can be considered innovators in their own right, Sneak for permeating the house scene with disco infused grooves after being shot into the raving stratosphere by Cajmere (Green Velvet) whilst Todd Terry can be reprimanded for heavily influencing the modern house movement.
Away from the barbeque (read all about Sneaks BBQ antics here) DJ Sneak remains central to dance music culture, travelling the Ibiza and festival circuits, channeling his music production in more recent times towards the realm of reworking tracks and a recent collaboration with Darius Syrossian (above).
Terry remains representative of the growth of house music since the get-go, boasting umpteen releases on celebrated labels whilst championing his very own InHouse and SoundDesign imprints, the musical maestro latest workings can be heard on his album Toddy Terry vs that Trap Shitt or alternatively when he rubbed shoulders with us here at Skiddle to produce this mix above.
