A documentary charting the history of Manchester band James will make its theatrical premiere in the city where they formed. James: Getting Away With It will screen at Aviva Studios on Monday 17th August, and includes a Q&A and live acoustic performance from the band.

Directed by Chris Atkins and featuring interviews with the likes of Chris Martin, Brian Eno and Jo Wiley, the documentary charts the history of the group, formed in the early 80s in the Manchester suburb Whalley Range, and their various highs and lows, covering their Factory Records rejection, episodes of infighting, their breakthrough in the early 90s, an infamous Lollapalooza tour and more.
Described as “a soulful and wry account of creativity, friendship and the mistakes that shaped one of the UK music’s most improbable success stories.” James: Getting Away With It combs together unseen archival footage with present day backstage scenes. The band performance and Q&A will be filmed and broadcast alongside the film at subsequent screenings countrywide following its Factory International showing.
