Wednesday 28th January marked the 40th birthday of acclaimed rapper J. Cole, and to celebrate it, he dropped a surprise mixtape, 'Birthday Blizzard '26'. The release saw by Instagram first, the rapper captioned the post, "Birthday Blizzard ‘26 hosted by DJ Clue? 🥶🥶. 4 new freestyles available now on thefalloff.com @djclue."
The mixtape follows the classic '90s and '00s old school Hip-Hop equilibrium with no-frills energy, where Cole displayed his razor-sharp rhymes over classic beats like Biggie's "Who Shot Ya?", Diddy's "Victory" and The LOX's "Money, Power & Respect."
Hosted by kingpin DJ Clue, the mixtape also addresses the backlash to his apology to Kendrick Lamar in 2024 following their brief back-and-forth on "Like That" and "7 Minute Drill."
Birthday Blizzard '26 is exclusively available to purchase at J. Cole’s website, where fans can stream and download a copy for a minimum of $1. The project comes before the teased release of Cole’s long-awaited final album, 'The Fall-Off', which is set to arrive on Friday 6th February.
