With the likes of Radiohead, Deftones and Jamie Jones already confirmed, Iceland's Secret Solstice already had an explosive line up for their festival in June (watch the trailer below).

But the Scandinavian spectacular has now upped the ante somewhat with the announcement that this year's event will feature the world's first gig inside a volcano.

Set for Saturday 18th of June, a group of only 20 guests will be transported via helicopter from Iceland's capital Reykjavík to the mouth of the Thrihnukagigur volcano, before being lowered down a distance almost twice the height of the Statue Of Liberty into the Earth, for a concert that's sure to be mind blowing.

Details of which act will be treating to the crowd to a unique performance have not yet been released, but organisers have promised a "world famous artist". Expect an eruption on the dance floor.

Thrihnukagigur has not erupted for over 4,000 years so Secret Solstice have promised that 'Inside The Volcano' will be totally risk-free although a safety notice does note that "any guests who are considerably intoxicated before the commencement of Secret Solstice presents Inside the Volcano will be refused their spot on the tour".

You'll also need pockets almost as deep as the volcano itself with tickets set at 250,000 Icelandic krona (aprox. £1,380). Each ticket includes the performance inside Thrihnukagigur, helicopter transport from Reykjavik and refreshments inside the magma chamber.
