FKA twigs will be the festivals 32nd curator

Date published: 23rd Oct 2026

It has been announced that FKA twigs will be the 32nd curator of Meltdown 2027, which is set to commence on Thursday 10th to Sunday 20th June. Returning to Southbank Centre in London, FKA twigs will headline the festival as well as shape the lineup over the 11-day event. Aiming to bring together an array of musical genres and artists working across various creative disciplines to reflect her influences, the lineup will be announced in the next couple of months.

Founded in 1933, Meltdown has seen the likes of David Bowie, Yoko Ono, Grace Jones, Nile Rodgers, Patti Smith, Little Simz, Harry Styles and Chaka Khan.

In a statement, FKA twigs said: "I am honoured and excited to be curating Meltdown at the Southbank Centre. The potent artistic and cultural landscape in London has raised me from Croydon College, to performing in underground cabaret clubs, dancing till sunrise in warehouses on the docks, and last year being lucky enough to sing my operatic songs in one of the largest arenas in London."

"The cultural and artistic clash in this city is like no other. Where cultures, sounds, stories and traditions from all over the world meet, collide and transform one another. I intend to bring you a slice of all that has raised me and continues to inspire me: celebrating the diversity, freedom and creative energy that I believe makes London one of the world’s great capitals of music and the arts."

Southbank Centre has also announced Hometown Meltdown, a partnership with Music Venue Trust that takes the festival’s artist-curated approach to grassroots spaces across Wales, England and Scotland.
