From eighties and nineties comedienne Victoria Wood to Bolton based record breaking stand up Peter Kay, the reemerging Jason Manford to Mock the Week favourite Chris Addison, and not to mention one of the most important comic minds in the UK Steve Coogan, Manchester has a seriously impressive comedy background. The city plays host to a tonne of comedy nights peppered around its confines. With comics ranging from the cerebral to the slapstick, you'll never be hard pressed to find winning comedy nights in Manchester.
Manchester has some fantastic comedy venues, including the multi-award-winning Frog and Bucket, a club which added another two awards to its impressive trophy case this year. The Frog is known for its mint comedians, side-splitting comperes, and a cracking atmosphere, perfect for kicking off the weekend. Or, if you’re looking for a cheap and cheerful night out, The Laughcienda Comedy Club showcases new acts trying out new material. The night was donned as “one of the best nights out in Greater Manchester”, and it's free entry!
