Creative warehouse space for experimental and sound oriented art practices located in the North East of England. Includes studios, 2 galleries and workshop space.
Located in the Tess Valley, a once prominent industrial area of the North East England, The auxiliary is an artist led space spread over three floors of a 1920's townhouse. The Auxiliary includes studios, a gallery, a sound lab and residential space for our AIR programme.
We provide the time and space for artists to challenge, develop and ex[and their creative practices. We are particularly interesting in artists working outside traditional art mediums who seek out bold and challenging experiences. Artists engaging in trans and multi-disciplinary methodologies, or who have a strong D.I.Y aesthetic, are also most welcome to apply.
We also aim to enable local, national and international artists in devising independent art platforms and structures for the dissemination of contemporary art practices throughout Teesside, as well as the cross pollination of practices through the mobility of a new trans cultural demographic.
Located at 31 Station Street, Middlesbrough, The Auxiliary Warehouse is a short 5 minute walk from Middlesbrough train station and a 5 minute walk from Middlesbrough bus station (via A66 underpass)
