A superb sound system which I understand belonged to the band and their excellent sound engineer. It was obvious that the band had arrived early to set up the gear and get the sound right from the off.
The stage was on the small side for an eleven piece band but they adapted well and gave us all an evening of top class entertainment!
It Can't be easy to reproduce the intricate sounds of a band like Steely Dan but with the sheer musicianship of these lads and lasses it was second nature!

Review of Steely Don live at Walkden Legion Club

Firstly, Steely Don are no "ordinary" tribute band ... they're exceptional! This is the second time I have seen them - previously, in 2023, at The Empire, Rochdale - and once again, they genuinely produced a truly authentic Steely Dan sound and every member of the 11-piece band demonstrated their terrific musicianship skills. For the price my 2 friends and I paid for the tick*ts, it was an absolute steal! This was also our first visit to Walkden Legion Club and we were all impressed by the ambience, layout, sound projection and friendliness of the staff: providing a cosy, comfortable and friendly atmosphere, with unhindered viewing and a great listening experience. A wonderful evening's entertainment!

The musicians are top notch, very skilful.

As a Steely Dan fanatic, I went to see Steely DON hoping they could cope with the notoriously complex Fagen/Becker tunes, but knowing that no band of north-west musos would be able to replicate the playing of the world's best session players who delivered Aja, Gaucho etc. 
How wrong I was. This 11-piece band exceeded all expectations, delivering two stunning sets and thrilling the crowd, many of whom were players themselves, and aware of each little miracle as they were delivered. If the cream of LA's horn players drop down dead tomorrow, the Don's quartet could step into their shoes. Larry Carlton would, I'm sure, acknowledge Glynn Ogden as a guitar equal. The vocal trio were a perfect blend. The rhythm section? Magnificent. Somehow, the stand-in keyboard player nailed all her parts at short notice; bravo, Ma'am. 
Added to all this, the band were friendly and cheerful - the jovial Martin on vocals was a nice contrast to the Dan's curmudgeonly Fagen. And a bonus: all this happened in the pleasant surroundings of Walkden Legion Club. Result, 5 stars all round, but only because I can't give 6. 
This was the best gig I've been to in years. Do yourself a favour - go and see Steely DON.

Never been here before but the venue was fabulous - and Steely Don are a treat if you've never seen them before - fabulous musicians and singers - seen them 3 times now - and they never disappoint - they truly love the music they are doing and take  time to get to know the audience

These are the 'bees knees' 🐝 as far as tribute bands are concerned! Very true to the original band of Steely Dan.  Go see them, you won't be disappointed....
