Hidden x Fishing for Bill: Dopplereffekt, Client_03 + Support

We’re linking back up with Fishing for Bill to bring one of Detroit electro’s most important and enigmatic projects to Hidden for a special live A/V set.

Formed in Detroit in the mid-90s, Dopplereffekt brings together Gerald Donald, co-founder of the legendary Drexciya, and To-Nhan Bertel. Together, the pair have built one of electro’s most distinctive projects, combining stripped-back machine rhythms, futuristic electronics and a cold, precise sound that has remained instantly recognisable for decades.

Following an appearance at Dekmantel this summer, where they shared the wider programme with A Guy Called Gerald and Space Afrika, Dopplereffekt have continued to appear on lineups alongside some of electronic music’s most respected names, including fellow Detroit electro pioneer DJ Stingray 313.

Joining them is the masked and anonymous Client_03, an artist whose identity remains hidden behind the idea of being “neither human nor machine.” Their sound moves through razor-sharp electro, dystopian electronics and broken rhythms, stretching into dubstep, jungle and wider bass music.

With both projects rooted in machine music, technological concepts and sounds built around the future, Client_03 is the perfect counterpart to Dopplereffekt’s live A/V performance.
