

Tosca is set in a concert hall in an unidentified European state overtaken by civil conflict. Opera singer Floria Tosca arranges a secret meeting with her lover, the painter Mario Cavaradossi, but when the corrupt police chief Scarpia intervenes, the concert hall becomes a place of fear and violence.
Over one night, Tosca is forced to fight for her love, her honour and her life. The opera can be seen as a stand-alone performance, or alongside Kaija Saariaho’s Adriana Mater as part of a wider exploration of war and resilience in ENO’s 2026/27 season.
