Romeo & Juliet is a ballet reimagining of Shakespeare’s story of love, conflict and tragic consequences. Set in Renaissance Italy, in the city of Verona, it follows Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet as they fall in love while tensions rise between the Montagues and the Capulets.
Created by Rudolf Nureyev for Queen Elizabeth II’s Silver Jubilee in 1977, the production is now in its 50th anniversary. English National Ballet Philharmonic perform Prokofiev’s dramatic score live, adding to the stage action throughout.
