Romeo & Juliet at the London Coliseum is a ballet retelling of Shakespeare’s tragic love story, set in Renaissance Italy in the city of Verona. As the Montagues and Capulets stand on the brink of violence, Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet fall desperately in love, with fate driving the story towards its tragic end.
This production was created by Rudolf Nureyev for Queen Elizabeth II's Silver Jubilee in 1977 and is now in its 50th anniversary. The English National Ballet Philharmonic perform Prokofiev’s score live.
Described by The Telegraph as “as vital, as alive and as stirring as can be”, the production brings the story from first meeting to final embrace to the stage.
Running time: 2 hours 55 minutes including an interval.
