About Romeo & Juliet

Romeo & Juliet is a ballet retelling of Shakespeare’s tragic love story, set in Renaissance Italy in the city of Verona. As the Montagues and Capulets stand on the brink of violence, Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet fall in love across the divide.

Rudolf Nureyev created this production for Queen Elizabeth II’s Silver Jubilee in 1977. Now in its 50th anniversary, it is performed with Prokofiev’s dramatic score played live by the English National Ballet Philharmonic.

Running time: 2 hours 55 minutes including an interval.

Before you book

Age guidance: Recommended 10+. Patrons aged 15 or under must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over. The performance contains strobe lighting and includes themes of grief and revenge, as well as descriptions of violence.

Booking conditions: No latecomers and no readmittance except during the interval will be in place for this production. No exchanges or refunds are available after purchase. The production cannot guarantee the appearance of any specific actor due to illness or unforeseen circumstances.
