About Romeo & Juliet

Romeo & Juliet is a ballet based on Shakespeare’s story of love, family conflict and tragic consequences. Set in Renaissance Italy, it follows Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet as their relationship develops against the background of violence between the Montagues and the Capulets.

This production was created by Rudolf Nureyev for Queen Elizabeth II’s Silver Jubilee in 1977 and is now in its 50th anniversary. English National Ballet Philharmonic perform Prokofiev’s score live, adding to the drama of the performance on stage.

Running time: 2 hours 55 minutes including interval.

Before you book

Age guidance: Recommended for ages 10+. Patrons aged 15 or under must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over. The performance contains strobe lighting and includes themes of grief and revenge, as well as descriptions of violence.

Entry and refunds: No latecomers will be admitted, and there is no readmittance except during the interval. No exchanges or refunds are available after purchase. The production cannot guarantee the appearance of any specific actor due to illness or unforeseen circumstances.
