There are certain things you expect when you walk into Room 2.
Loud music.
Questionable dance moves.
Someone insisting they’ve only had “two drinks.”
And, somewhere in the background, the reassuring presence of security making sure everyone gets home with the same number of limbs they arrived with.
But this time, something has gone terribly, terribly right.
Because the Room 2 Security Team are putting on their own club night — and they’ve decided to throw a proper celebration for Glasgow’s Eastern European communities.
Yes. The security are running a club night.
The same people whose usual evening consists of standing at the door, checking IDs, solving arguments over absolutely nothing and politely explaining that, no, you cannot bring your own bottle of Buckfast into the venue… are now responsible for the music.
We are, naturally, treating this development with the appropriate level of concern.
But behind the hi-vis, radios and serious faces is a team who know exactly what makes a good night — and they’re bringing that energy into Room 2 for a celebration of Eastern European music, culture ... community!
Expect a night packed with big tunes, massive energy and the kind of atmosphere where “I'm only staying for an hour” becomes “Why is it 3am?”
This is a night for Glasgow's Eastern European community to come together, have a laugh, meet people, dance, drink and generally remind the Room 2 security team that their job description has apparently expanded considerably.
There will be music.
There will be dancing.
There will be questionable decisions.
There will almost certainly be someone asking security if they can “just quickly go back in.”
And, for once, security might actually be on the dancefloor rather than standing beside it.
The night is about bringing people together and creating a proper community atmosphere — whether you're Polish, Romanian, Bulgarian, Lithuanian, Latvian, Slovak, Czech, Hungarian, Ukrainian, Croatian, Serbian, or from anywhere across Eastern Europe, you're welcome.
And if you're not Eastern European?
Don't worry.
You're still allowed in.
Probably.
Just behave yourself.
This isn't your average club night. It's **Room 2 Security after hours**, and quite frankly, nobody knows what happens when you give the people responsible for keeping everyone else under control a sound system and a dancefloor.
We may never recover.
Come down. Bring your mates. Bring your dancing shoes. Bring your questionable dance moves.
Just don't make the security team regret giving themselves the night off.
The door staff are in charge.
God help us all.
