Laurie Corlett-Donald is a solo artist based in Edinburgh who makes contemporary classical music blended with electronic ambient undertones.
He started his career playing in bands when he was nineteen including Discopolis and Stillhound, touring extensively and releasing three records he turned his hand to solo music production, initially releasing club music under the moniker Trembler until he shifted towards more ambient sonics and string arrangements. After many years of learning and experimenting the project turned into ‘Dunedin’ - a multimedia exploration of his hometown. Drawing on experiences of wanting to be away from Edinburgh, going out and seeing new places and yet inevitably ending up back there, the record acts as a homage to a city that is entrenched in the soul of who he is. Collaborating with local writers, short stories were made for each of the tracks that he made and the namesake comes from the stories, not the other way around. The only brief being - ‘your connection to Edinburgh’.
For the live show he is going ‘off grid’ as much as possible, blending analog modular, piano and synths with Justyna Jablonksa on cello, Emma Lloyd on violin and Luisa Brown on fiddle and electronics to reimagine the album for a live environment.
