P.P. Arnold is the quintessential "First Lady of Soul." Her journey began in the mid-60s as an Ikette with the Ike & Tina Turner Revue, but it was a chance encounter with Mick Jagger that changed everything. Spotting her raw talent, Jagger convinced Andrew Loog Oldham to sign her to his Immediate record label, instantly making her one of the most iconic faces of London's "Swinging 60s."
Her solo career soared with a string of hits that remain timeless, most notably her original version of "The First Cut Is The Deepest," "Angel Of The Morning," and "(If You Think You're Groovy)." Beyond her own records, she is perhaps the most prolific collaborator in music history. Over six decades, she has shaped the sound of R&B, Rock, and Pop, working alongside legends like Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, the Small Faces, and Barry Gibb, through to modern icons like the KLF, Paul Weller, and Ocean Colour Scene.
Far from just a legacy artist, Pat remains a vital and "electrifying" force in the industry. Following her successful 2022 Glastonbury debut and the release of her critically acclaimed autobiography Soul Survivor, she has continued to release new music to popular acclaim, including the 2024 Live In Liverpool album. With a massive career retrospective released in February 2025, P.P. Arnold continues to prove why she is the ultimate soul survivor-still going strong and still incomparable.
