Black History Wales Music Festival x Afrowales

Black History Wales Music Festival x Afrowales is coming to Y Plas, Cardiff on Friday 13 November 2026 for a major celebration of Black music, culture, creativity and community.

Taking over Y Plas from 6:00pm, the event brings together families, young people, artists, performers, creatives and communities for an evening of music, food, fashion, activities and Black culture in the heart of Cardiff.

The evening is split into two main experiences: a completely FREE family friendly programme from 6:00pm to 9:00pm, followed by the Black History Wales Music Festival from 9:00pm to 12:00am.

6PM TO 9PM | FREE FAMILY FRIENDLY EXPERIENCE

From 6:00pm to 9:00pm, children, parents, families and the wider community are invited to enjoy a free family friendly celebration of Black culture and creativity.

There will be plenty to experience, including:

• Face painting
• 360 camera experience
• Djembe drumming
• FREE arts and crafts for children
• Family activities and entertainment
• African and Caribbean food
• Music and cultural experiences
• Creative stalls and community activities
• Opportunities for families to learn, create and celebrate together

Entry to the family friendly section is completely FREE. Families should book a free ticket in advance to help us manage venue capacity.

9PM TO 12AM | BLACK HISTORY WALES MUSIC FESTIVAL

From 9:00pm, the atmosphere moves into the main Black History Wales Music Festival, celebrating the music, fashion, performance and creativity shaping Black culture in Wales and beyond.

Expect a packed programme featuring:

• Live bands and artists
• DJs and party atmosphere
• Dance performances
• African and Caribbean food
• Street fashion and creative showcases
• Merchandise and pop up stalls
• Black Welsh culture and community
• An evening of music, performance, celebration and connection

This is more than a music event. It is a platform to discover artists, support creative businesses, experience different cultures and celebrate Black history through the music, food, fashion, creativity and stories of today.
