The Tivoli is now under the ownership of the Tivoli Theatre Company Ltd., who wish to restore the building and create a useable and sustainable space for modern-day use.
The project's proposals are focused around preservation of the theatre's impressive Grade A Listed auditorium.
It is envisaged that the Tivoli will become a significant new public attraction located in the heart of historic Aberdeen, with good transport links, and adjacent to the newly opened Union Square retail centre.
The Masterplan is based on the creation of a series of inter-connected spaces all overlooking the central auditorium allowing the use of under-utilised areas for offices, dance rooms, cafes, restaurants, shops and multipurpose spaces.
The stage and pit areas will be retained for performances, and will equally provide flexible space for exhibitions and functions.
At present the theatre is not fully accessible, and the proposals aim to allow better access for all.
The Tivoli will become an exciting destination within easy reach of public transport links and other city centre amenities. The Tivoli will be able to boast an impressive variety of cafes, restaurants, arts and crafts and first class dance/gym facilities, with a spectacular central auditorium for mid-scale productions.
