It’s here, the line-up for Yousef presents Circus' Birthday has arrived and as you’d expect, it’s an absolute stunner. The clubnight, which has hit Ibiza this year successfully and seen the record label push new artists like David Glass and Acid Mondays alongside older heads such as Green Velvet, Carl Cox, and Sasha, has aged brilliantly. Back home where it belongs at the East Village Arts Club, formerly the Masque, and the bill heaves with the stellar house and techno talent the club has become renowned for.
Naturally the man top of the bill is Yousef. The event’s figurehead, the eleventh year of Circus has seen his stock continue to rise, particularly as a producer. His track ‘Beg’ was one of the tracks of 2012, battering its way out of Defected towards the end of last year and staying at the top end of the Beatport Deep House charts for weeks.
Then there’s ‘Float Away’, a record which Yousef first started playing at his shows at the turn of the year and has since been signed to FFRR / Warner Records for a global release. It features the sultry tones of The Angel, an artist reared on the Circus dancefloor and discovered by Yousef himself, who will be playing live at the Birthday as well.
Next up is Seth Troxler, a big Skiddle favourite (as we emphasised in our recent Artist of the Week feature). The Visionquest talisman is undoubtedly one of the biggest draws of the current climate and a DJ as much about charisma as he is talent and panache. Circus clubbers will know him all too well from his show stopping performances at the club in the past few years, and there’s few better placed to help bring in the milestone than this doyen of dance.
A heady ensemble backs them up too, with Panoramabar resident Cassy, the edgy bass workouts of Scuba, Polish DJ and production duo Catz and Dogz and, of course, Circus resident DJs Lewis Boardman and Scott Lewis. Not only that there's a few more line-up announcements lurking under the Circus sleeve, crowning a sure-fire cracker of a party
