Legendary Leeds music venue The Warehouse is back, more than 30 years after it first made its name in the late seventies.
The Warehouse first opened its doors to the city’s music lovers in 1979 and quickly established itself as the epicentre of music and clubbing in the north of England with everyone from Frankie Goes to Hollywood to Sugar Hill Gang, Oasis to The Stone Roses, Sasha, Greg Wilson, LFO and Mike Pickering appearing there over the years.
Now the iconic club has been re-fitted and re-kitted, with a brand new Funktion One Dance Stacks tower above the dancefloor as well mind blowing lighting rigs, colour lasers and CO2 jets.
Elsewhere, the venue has been remodelled throughout with a new layout, new chillout areas featuring leather lounge beds, state of the art DJ equipment, new dance levels, new bars, new toilets and new air conditioning. Upstairs in the Loft the walls have been blasted back to expose the brick and huge wooden beams, fireplaces and sash windows have been revealed to create a sumptuous second room.
Upcoming events at The Warehouse
Heading back underground, The Warehouse is hosting a number of regular nights alongside huge one-off specials, with the world’s finest DJs and live acts from house, electro, techno, dubstep and DnB, all playing on a regular basis.
Established local brands like house and techno party Filth to huge London dubstep night Spectrum join new nights Sequence and Coloursound, unhinged yahoos Ketoloco and labels including Cadenza and Hypercolour will all pass through the doors to the delight of clubbers looking for a party atmosphere second to none.
And after a five year break from the clubbing scene, the original outlandish, weird and wonderful SpeedQueen is also back onboard, bringing with it desires and delights!
Whilst history isn’t everything, it gives The Warehouse an enviable footing from which to kickstart its new direction.
And with an 8am license, 7 days a week there is no doubt that this is the start of a special new chapter in the club’s history.
