Do you remember the thrill of walking onto a playground as a kid? That’s what exploring the best nightclubs in London feels like. But forget slides and soft play. Instead, it’s intimate industrial spaces, gorgeous terraces, massive superclubs, dazzling light shows and sound systems that’ll make your whole body move.
From Bermondsey to Dalston and Rye Lane to Elephant and Castle, there’s a club for every music lover. One weekend, you could be dancing to the selections of a techno legend, the next, you could be watching the cult hero you’ve always wanted to see do their thing behind the decks.
To help you navigate the sheer choice on offer and uncover your new favourite weekend spot, we’ve put together a list of the best clubs in London. Let’s take a look at all the places to dance in the capital.

Image: E1 / Facebook.com
Capacity: 1,600
Location: Unit 2, 110 Pennington St, London E1W 2BB
E1 is a raver’s dream. Each of its three rooms is equipped with a Funktion-One, so you know you’ll feel every throb of bass, and the neon laser lighting adds an extra layer of immersion. Then there’s the bookings. Ben Klock, So Solid Crew and Supa D have graced the club’s decks in the past year, so if you’re a techno, garage or house head, you’re more than covered. Plus, it opens until 6am, giving you and your mates the chance to lose yourself to some of the best DJs out there through the night and into the early morning.

Capacity: 520
Location: Gillian House, Stephenson St, London E16 4SA
FOLD is for the clubbers, by the clubbers. An artist-led, community-driven nightclub and arts space, it hosts stacked line-ups, DJs playing all night long and day parties like UNFOLD, which has become the stuff of legend in the queer scene, thanks to great music and a safe, non-judgemental space. House and techno are featured heavily, but the booking policy doesn’t discriminate. Bass, dubstep, footwork and jungle nights all get a look in throughout the year, making FOLD a must-visit for those who like their beats heavy and their music loud.

Capacity: 2,000
Where: 60 Dock Rd, London E16 1YZ
The Cause always comes through with massive multi-name line-ups, meaning you can see all the best DJs throughout the year. Indoors, you’ve got multiple rooms perfect for letting loose, and outdoors, the courtyard is unmissable. Part outdoor area, part post-industrial gathering space, you can take a spot on the ground or dance in one of the many booths, which put you right next to the speakers for maximum sound immersion. Music-wise, expect absolutely everything, from titans of techno to gabber speed demons, and the best queer talent the city has to offer.

Capacity: 600
Where: 39 Parry St, London SW8 1RT
Fire and Lightbox is like stepping into…an actual light box. We’re not joking. The club's walls are adorned with multi-coloured displays, which trip and flash as the music belts out from the massive sound systems in each of the three rooms. Plenty of clubs operate immersive lighting, but when you’re dancing underneath the ones here, it really feels like you’re in a room tailor-made for enjoying electronic music to its fullest. You’ll find separate events for Fire and Lightbox, as they’re sister clubs, but expect pop, reggaeton, baile funk, LGBTQ+ events and more here, with street food, arcade games and a cocktail garden. Pretty much everything you need for a good night out, we reckon.

Capacity: 3,000
Location: 338 Boord St, London SE10 0PF
London is often cold and dark, but Studio 338 brings a touch of the White Isle to the capital. Just look at that terrace. It's got the lights, smoke and sound all boxed off, and when the DJs are in full force, there’s only one word to describe it: unreal. The garden isn’t bad, either. Decorated with lush greenery and powered by a Void sound system, you’re getting a gorgeous setting, powerful sound and a mechanical roof, which means the party continues no matter the weather.

LDN East was a scrap yard in its previous life, reconstructed with old shipping containers and turned into a raw, graffiti-splashed, open-air dance music metropolis. You can groove to house or skank out to drum and bass across two areas, so no matter whether you love dancing in the afternoon at a day party or going hard until the sun comes up, LDN East has you covered.

Capacity: 1,500
Location: 1A Camden High St, London NW1 7RE
Spending the evening in an edgy warehouse club or an open-air space is one thing, but how about a Grade II listed, art-deco style building? That’s KOKO. It looks grand inside and out, the walls adorned with deep red decor. The booking policy is just as enticing as the setting, too. Contemporary house and techno artists have graced the decks at KOKO and legends of the scene have delivered hair-raising sets. And let’s be honest, seeing and hearing the best names in electronic music surrounded by classic interior makes things that extra bit special.

Capacity: 350
Location: Orion Business Centre, Surrey Canal Rd, London SE14 5RT
Venue MOT has that old-school clubbing feel. It’s tucked away on an industrial estate in Bermondsey with fairly limited transport routes, so you will have to plan your route. But that’s part of the fun. What awaits you inside the 350-capacity club is a programme of the most esteemed selectors, amazing sound and a crowd and venue team that truly care about the music. It’s for the connoisseurs, and with a 6am closing time on Saturdays, you’re in for a proper night out here.

Capacity: 700
Location: 14 Bohemia Pl, London E8 1DU
Under the arches of Hackney Central station lies Night Tales, a vibrant, neon jungle adorned with lush greenery, and of course, a top-tier sound system. By day, sip crafted cocktails and munch on delicious pizza and by night, let the world’s best DJs take you on an audio journey while you dance with your friends. Previous events have seen London legends like Artwork and Fabio and Grooverider take to the decks, reggae all-dayers with David Rodigan and summer terrace parties where the vibes are high from start to finish. Day parties, night parties, no problem: Night Tales does it all.

Out in Brixton? You can’t go wrong with Phonox. It’s right in the heart of the borough with a real focus on delivering quality nights. In effect, you’re seeing your favourite DJ's favourite DJ, and not much beats the knowledge of an esteemed selector who plays week in week out at clubs up and down the country. Saturdays are a little more stripped back: one dancefloor, one sound system and DJs playing all night. For all-night sets and DJs who know exactly how to work a room, Phonox delivers every time.
