Renowned pioneer of house and techno, Seth Troxler has reached out to fans for help salvaging his prized vinyl collection after recent floods hit his Ibiza home. The American DJ and producer took to his social media channels, offering €10 an hour to anyone willing to lend a hand. But what started as a genuine cry for help has stirred up debate online.

The DJ revealed that severe flooding had damaged up to 6,000 records from his extensive collection, prompting him to request local assistance in cleaning, sorting and restoring what could be saved. Posting on social media, Troxler invited people on the island to join the effort, offering hourly pay to help recover his collection.

While some fans praised the move as a humble and hands-on response, others criticised the hourly rate as being too low, especially given Troxler’s profile and success. Commenters were quick to call it tone-deaf, while others defended him, saying the rate reflected a genuine attempt to get the job done.

Despite the online chatter, Troxler’s focus remains on rebuilding. He wrapped up his final Ibiza show of the season this week at Circoloco’s closing party at DC-10, marking the end of another hectic summer on the island. Next up, he’s heading to the States for a run of North American shows, rounding off another busy year for one of dance music’s most outspoken and enduring figures.
