Radio 1's Academy welcomes Tinie Tempah, Aluna George, Jake Bugg and more

The academy comes to Exeter later this month, offering free creative career sessions, Live Lounges and radio broadcasts.

Radio 1 and BBC Learning have announced the details for this year's Academy which will take place in Exeter the week before the Big Weekend festival.

From Tuesday 17th May to Saturday 21st May, the Radio 1 Academy will welcome a host of stars to get involved with Q&As, workshops, radio shows, Live Lounges aimed at 16-19 year olds who are keen to kick start their careers in the industry.

Station DJs Nick Grimshaw, Scott Mills, Greg James and Clara Amfo will all be on hand to offer their advice along with musical talents including Tinie Tempah, Tom Odell, AlunaGeorge and Jake Bugg

As well as the scheduled sessions, attendees can spend time daily live Radio 1 broadcasts, careers advice, demos, DJ decks, live music, 3D printing, virtual reality and 360 filming, speed meets and much more.

Tuesday 17th May - AlunaGeorge Radio 1 Live Lounge performance and workshop, plus Q&A with Tinie Tempah

Wednesday 18th May - Tom Odell Radio 1 Live lounge, special guest workshops and Q&A

Thursday 19th May - Laura Mvula Radio 1 Live Lounge, plus Q&A session with Radio 1 DJs

Friday 20th May – Jake Bugg Radio 1 Live Lounge and ‘Lightning Bolt’ guitar masterclass

Saturday 21th May – Mura Masa Radio 1 Live lounge and live showcase with special guests
