In an insightful interview with us two years ago, Prosumer commented on disco songs, explaining "lyrics of pain and longing plus an uplifting tune and there is your party starter."
It's a balance between euphoria and melancholy which make so many disco tracks poignant, and outside that blueprint, there's a whole load of boogie-laden productions which have shaped dancefloor moments, or hidden gems that creep out once in a while. Prosumer has been kind enough to pick his top 10 all time favourites for us ahead of his UK dates.
Kathi Baker - 'Fa La La'
Mary Clark - 'Take Me I'm Yours'
Brenda Harris – 'Making Love Will Keep You Fit'
Candido - Thousand Finger Man
The Salsoul Orchestra - 'It's Good For The Soul' (Walter Gibbons Disco Madness Version)
Jeffrey Lake Group - 'Star Naked 1980'
Cheryl Lynn - 'You Saved My Day" Joey Negro Tell The World Remix
Minnie Riperton - 'Strange Affair'
TC James & Fist-O-Funk Orchestra - 'Bumpsie's Whipping Cream'
Giorgio Moroder - From Here To Eternity LP
