The nineties revival has been a lot more rewarding than any other. Not only has it shown that a lot of the music has aged particularly well from that period (TLC par example have never sounded fresher, although the less said about those dungarees), in dance music it’s created a number of welcome additions back into the limelight of some of the key producers and players from the decade. No truer ius that that the case than with Marc Kinchen, better known as MK.

Part of the second generation of house music producers in the early nineties, he created a wave of classic productions such as the timeless ‘Burning’ (above) and represents a high watermark in the craft of groove driven production. His prowess extended long beyond the thud of house though, becoming a pop and R&B producer and writer du jour and working with the likes of Snoop Dogg, Jay-Z and Rhianna along the way.

It never compromised his underground credibility however, and in recent years he’s been the beneficiary of an interest in the sound he helped pioneer. He’ll be bringing to Jack Groove his languid and groove heavy take on house music, best epitomised by his recent Defected in the House compilation and this remix of Jamie Antonelli.
