Nothing Else Matters but...

We caught up with Radio One sensation Danny Howard and fast rising house duo Eli & Fur to ask them about the other loves in their lives, besides the music, ahead of Nothing Else Matters in Glasgow on Saturday.

As one of the most recognisable figures in dance music, Danny Howard has in the past few years been positioning himself as the tastemaker for a generation, supplying the freshest cuts and toughest beats on a weekly basis via his Radio One residency.

He's also been busy bringing his outstanding Nothing Else Matters brand to the four corners of the UK and Ireland, joining forces with some of the biggest names in dance music to bring his encyclopaedic knowledge of dance music to the masses (get a taste of that below).

This Saturday both Danny Howard and burgeoning house duo Eli & Fur's arrival at Glasgow's The Arches for the latest instalment of nothing Else Matters. We thought we'd catch up with the both headliners to ask them to let us in on five things they couldn't live without, minus the music of course.

Danny Howard

Chicken - "This is pretty much all I eat! Lean, full of protein and when I'm feeling adventurous I might have it in a curry!  I’m not really a big cook so this’ll usually end up arriving on my plate as a takeaway, which explains why my next two choices matter so much!"

Football - "Although I don't get to play much anymore due to DJing, I probably couldn't live without the beautiful game. I managed to realise a dream of mine last week by sitting on the Soccer AM sofa, it was my first time on TV, hopefully you can’t tell! Who do I support?  You’ll have to watch the clip to find out."

Hitting the gym - "Again, time restrictions don't allow for me to go all the time but good intentions and all that…"

Friends and Family - "Awww, how nice! But on a serious note… it's nice to be around good people, keep them close!"

A great big smile – "Some might say this one is pure cheddar, but another nice one from me... I really hate moody people, life’s too short! And also, it takes more muscles to frown than it does to smile, so why not show off those gnashers at every chance you get?!"

Eli & Fur

Food - "We love trying out new restaurants in the different cities and countries that we DJ in. Especially if it’s abroad and there is a specific food related to the country. We’ve just been making new music in Amsterdam and we ate croquettes every day” - Fur

Running - "I try to get outside as much as I can, when I’m not tired from playing out I like to go on a quick run. It’s good for clearing your head and listening to new tracks” - Eli

Cocktails - “I’m obsessed with making cocktails; I have a kit at home and get pretty into it. I sort of make it up as I go along but they usually turn out ok” - Eli

Art - “I have always been really into art and design. It’s a great way to pass time when travelling and a great way outside music to express yourself” - Fur

Going out to Clubs - “We love going out to see other DJs play and well as live bands. It’s one of the best and most authentic ways to discover new music. When you hear a track for the first time on a night out it always sticks with you."
