Nightmares on Wax, the project of British DJ and producer George Evelyn, returns to the sound that defined his early career with a new EP release, Patang, alongside Ibiza-based up-and-comer Marlon Lopez.

Making his name on Warp Records in the early 90s, with tracks like ‘Dextrous’ and ‘Aftermath’, Evelyn helped to shape the UK’s short-lived but influential bleep movement before moving into new territory with later releases like ‘Smoker’s Delight’.

The leading self-titled track of his latest EP comes from a collaboration with Lopez, a young musician and DJ who’s been hard at work building his name for the past several years. Appreciating the Ibiza-natives' talent early on, Evelyn invited Lopez on tour with his band at the tender age of just 17, leading to the link-up.

The track revisits that stripped-back, bass-driven bleep style, with cascading synths and tight drum machine rhythms produced at Evelyn’s Ibiza studio, blending his experience with Lopez’s more recent influences.

Also on the EP is ‘Cancel Dat!’, a nod to house music drawing inspiration from Masters at Work and Theo Parrish, with swung rhythms and heavy low-end aimed at the dancefloor.

Originally pressed as a limited white label, via 20/20 Vision, the release includes additional edits from label head Ralph Lawson. These include a tribute to Jamie Principle and a locked-groove version of ‘Cancel Dat!’ for DJs.

Pre-orders for the Patang EP are now live.
